Every 2-hours, three people are killed in alcohol-related highway crashes. 

An estimated 4 million U.S. adults reported driving under the influence of alcohol at least once in 2010 yielding an estimated 112 million alcohol-impaired driving episodes.

influence has one of the highest
arrest rates with more than 1.4
million DUI arrests in 2010.

​In 2010, alcohol was involved in 2,020
(or 47.2 percent) of pedestrian
fatalities, 11,087 (or 39.9 percent)
of vehicle occupant fatalities,
209 (or 33.8 percent)
​of pedal cyclist fatalities.


Alcohol-impaired motor vehicle crashes cost more than an estimated $37 billion annually.

In Minnesota in 2012, 104 people were killed in drunk driving crashes while 2,644 people were injured.

were arrested for DWIs
(an average of 78 DWIs per day).
11,474 (40 percent) of these violators
had at least one prior DWI.

In Minnesota in 2012, 76 percent of motorists arrested for DWI resulted in a criminal conviction for driving while impaired; this percentage will increase as outstanding cases are settled in courts.

​ One out of every seven licensed drivers in Minnesota has at least one DWI.
